Promise Fast Track 376/378 Raid Driver Problem installing Vi

I have a Promise Fast Track 376/378 Sata Raid controller built into my NForce2 Mobo. I have 2 raptor 10,000rpm running Raid 0 and the driver disk that came with the mobo don't work with the Vista Beta2 X86 32bit installation. I have looked all over the net and found many people with the same problem but no solution. Can anyone in here help. I have tried the Promise website and MSI the maker of my MOBO and nothing. The Model of the raid controller is PDC20376. Thanks.

Try using the win2003 drivers. MSI should have these drivers. When in the installation you get the window where you have to select the disk where to install windows, if your drivers don't show up, press Shift-F10, it will open a command-line box. Go to where you have your 2003 drivers for your controler, and type: drvload UlSata.inf (if your .inf file is named like mine, the important is that it's a ..inf file) When it says drivers has been loaded, close the DOS box, and click the refresh button on the "select hard drive window". They now should show up.

I had the same problem and have your same Promise Fast Track 376/378 on a MSI nForce2 mother board.
Someone had told me a way to get it working and it worked.
Make a new floppy disk. Copy the files from the old to the new. With one exception - Take the files out of the XP folder.
There are other folders which where NT and Win2000 in addition to the XP folder. I just used the XP folder. It worked for me. I guess Vista just don't look into the folders. XP must have cause the floppy always worked for me in XP.
Good Luck

It worked for me also. MSI 865pe neo2. Put the floppy in, open it, open the xp driver folder, select all, copy and paste it to your cd drive and away you go. Thanks

Not sure if this will help, but I also have a Promise 378 STA RAID controller on my mobo (ASUS K8VSE-Deluxe). Originally the Vista Beta 2 install wouldn't see my SATA drive (I'm not running a RAID configuration, just a single drive) but what I did was copy the contents of the WinXP folder of the Promise driver disk that came w/my mobo onto the root directory of another floppy. When I inserted that floppy and clicked "Find Driver", the install program installed the drivers and was able to finally see my drive.

Thanks that worked, that's so dumb though, why wouldn't it search through the folders for the driver. Looks like I have to drop a suggestion.

I tried this and it didn’t work for me. It saw the drivers but when I tried to install it said that it the drivers were missing from the disk. This cant be though cos I just used the same drivers to install XP.
HEEEELLLPPP PLEASE!
I have a MSI K8T Neo with Promise fast track 376/378 drivers.

I have exactly the same problem on the same hardware. So far there's been no solution... if it wasn't for the people who seem to have it working, I'd suspect that there simply is no driver which works with Vista.
It's that kind of head-against-wall frustrating situation which is going to make Vista customers quite unhappy if it's not fixed. Unfortunately I also can't figure out exactly who to blame.
Sigh.

Since
i do not have a floopy i put the promise fast track 376/378 (XP Drivers) onto a CD and loaded them off it and have had no Issues. It sees all my SATA and IDE raid drives.

I have a SATA and an IDE drive on my Asus A8V Deluxe mobo. I installed Vista Home Premium retail version on my IDE because of the problems with Promise raid and kept XP on my SATA. I could not see the SATA drive in Vista. I don't have the keys to validate the Vista install but at least I can play with it for 30 days.
Vista is apparently written on the Win 2003 code. There is no XP code in Vista. I took out my Asus A8V Deluxe MOBO disk and installed the Win 2003 driver for the Promise Fasttrak 378 Raid (tm) Controller. I was then able to see my SATA drive.
Maybe if you use the Win 2003 raid drivers when installing Vista to a computer with an Asus mobo your raid problems will disappear. I hope.
I am going to try doing the same when I get the retail version of Vista that I ordered.
